[Devlog #5] Delaying the Public Beta – Memory Leak Fix & Zombie System Improvements

Hey everyone,

I want to share an important development update regarding the upcoming public beta.

During internal testing, a critical memory leak was discovered that caused the game to consume an excessive amount of RAM over time. This is a serious issue and must be fixed before the public beta can be released.

After investigation, the problem was traced back to the zombie spawn system. This system is currently being reworked and optimized to fully resolve the issue.

🧠 Zombie System Improvements

While working on the fix, the zombie system itself has also been improved:

  • Zombies now use a proper skeleton-based setup

  • Death reactions are more dynamic, making zombies fall in a more natural and varied way

  • Overall behavior and structure have been refined for better future scalability

✅ Ready for the Public Beta

Once the memory leak is resolved, the following systems are already in place and ready for testing:

  • Zombie spawning

  • Zombie AI

  • Points system

  • 4 different weapons

  • Playable Map 1

  • Buy stations

  • Weapon reloading, dropping, and pickup

  • Up to 4 players per match

  • Steam-based lobby system

  • Weapon purchasing

  • Graphics settings (Low / Medium / High / Ultra)

❌ What Is Still Missing

Some features are intentionally not ready yet and will be added later:

  • Memory leak optimization (highest priority)

  • Zombie sound effects

  • Weapon sound effects

  • Additional animations

  • Player character model (currently planned for a later build)

🧪 Why the Beta Is Delayed

This beta is meant to be a testing build, but releasing it with a known memory leak would cause crashes, poor performance, and an overall bad experience.

Fixing this issue first ensures that:

  • testing sessions are stable

  • feedback is meaningful

  • bugs can be properly identified

Thanks a lot for your patience and continued support.
More updates will follow soon as the beta gets closer.
